IBGE conducts exams for 1,414 temporary census positions

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) is conducting objective exams this Sunday, August 30, 2026, for its selective process for Quality Census Agents and Census Analysts. The recruitment aims to fill 1,414 temporary positions for the 2027 Agricultural, Forestry, and Aquaculture Census, as well as the Census of the Homeless Population.

A total of 89,672 candidates have registered for the positions. Rio de Janeiro has the highest number of applicants with 18,794, followed by Bahia with 6,809 and São Paulo with 5,890. The average competition rate is 63 candidates per vacancy, though the Quality Census Agent role—which requires only a high school diploma—has a higher density of 134 candidates per vacancy.

Candidates can consult their exam locations, times, and rooms via the Instituto Avalia website. The exams are divided into two shifts: Quality Census Agents begin at 8:15 AM, while Census Analysts begin at 2:15 PM (Brasília time). Candidates are required to print and present their Information Card at the testing site.
