Ibikunle Amosun disputes Ogun Governor's Buhari Estate claims

Former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has disputed claims made by current Governor Dapo Abiodun regarding the Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Abeokuta. Abiodun recently claimed to have “rescued” the estate from forfeiture following legal action initiated by a contractor over unpaid fees.

Amosun dismissed these assertions as a distortion of history, stating that the infrastructure project was approximately 95 per cent complete before his administration ended in May 2019. He noted that the infrastructure contract, valued at approximately ₦3.5bn, had been fully mobilized and that sufficient funding was available to finish the remaining works.

The estate, situated on roughly 500 hectares along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, was designed as a residential zone for members of the executive, legislature, and judiciary. Amosun’s media office stated that while they had previously remained silent to maintain stability, they felt compelled to respond because the allegations attacked his personal integrity.
