Spain and Argentina face extreme weather as storms and temperature shifts hit

Severe weather conditions are impacting multiple regions in Spain and Argentina. In Spain, the AEMET has issued high-level alerts, including a red alert for the Marina Alta region in Alicante, where rainfall could reach 300 liters per square meter. Other areas, such as Ibiza and Formentera, are under orange alerts for rain and storms. In Andalusia, the Emergency Agency (EMA) reported 155 incidents, with 121 occurring in Almería, involving flooding, landslides, and vehicle displacements.

In Argentina, a significant temperature contrast is being observed. While parts of the north and Buenos Aires experience a cold wave with temperatures dropping significantly, southern regions like Ushuaia are seeing summer-like conditions with temperatures exceeding 21 degrees Celsius. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional continues to monitor these shifts, including the potential effects of El Niño on the Atlantic coast and flooding in the Litoral region.
