Ibiza sees drop in car arrivals amid new mobility regulations
Ibiza has seen a significant shift in mobility patterns following the implementation of vehicle entry restrictions. Data from the 2026 summer season shows a 16.7% reduction in passenger cars arriving at the port compared to 2024, the last year before regulations were introduced.
The decline in private vehicle arrivals has intensified throughout the high season. In June, entries fell by 11.5% compared to 2024, rising to an 18.1% decrease in July, and reaching a provisional 19.3% drop in August.
Concurrently, the use of public transportation, specifically buses, has increased significantly, establishing it as a viable alternative to private cars for travel across the island. The regulation, which began in June 2025, aims to mitigate the pressure caused by private vehicles during peak periods.
