ICE agents reportedly detain individuals in separate California incidents
Cell phone footage has surfaced showing separate incidents involving individuals being detained by individuals identified by witnesses as federal immigration agents in California.
At Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), video shows plainclothes agents detaining a Chinese national. During the encounter, the woman stated, “I’m not doing anything wrong,” as she was led away. The incident occurs amid rising numbers of Chinese nationals encountered at the U.S. southwest border and ongoing tensions regarding California’s sanctuary city policies.
In Thermal, California, another video depicts men, described by neighbors as immigration agents, handcuffing a 14-year-old male in a mobile home park. Neighbors alleged that a checkpoint was set up nearby and that the teenager's vehicle was rammed prior to the arrest. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office stated they have no record of personnel being at the park during the incident and noted that no one in the video appeared to be wearing a sheriff's uniform. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the Thermal incident.
