ICRC facilitates release of 37 Palestinian detainees

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has facilitated the release and transfer of 37 Palestinian detainees from the Kerem Abu Salem crossing to the Nasser Medical Complex in the Gaza Strip. The group includes at least one woman, and the ICRC has assisted with their reunification with families.

Since 2023, the ICRC has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,700 detainees under similar arrangements. However, the committee stated it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023. The ICRC reaffirmed its efforts to resume visits to all detainees and to obtain essential information regarding their whereabouts and health conditions, emphasizing that all detainees must be treated humanely in accordance with international humanitarian law.
