iCS Economy and Climate Prize launched in Brazil

The Instituto Clima e Sociedade (iCS), in partnership with the Associação Nacional dos Centros de Pós-Graduação em Economia (Anpec), has launched the iCS Economy and Climate Prize. The initiative aims to encourage Brazilian scientific research regarding the economic impacts of climate change and global warming.

The prize targets researchers with doctoral degrees who have published studies in national or international academic journals, or presented them at Anpec seminars, between May 2024 and May 2026. Submissions are open until October 2.

Three winners will be selected by an evaluation committee, receiving prizes of R$ 20,000, R$ 10,000, and R$ 5,000, respectively. The results are expected to be announced in November. The initiative seeks to provide technical data to support long-term decision-making and public policy in the face of extreme weather events affecting Brazil's infrastructure and productive sectors.
