Ideam adjusts temperature forecasts and issues fire alerts in Colombia
The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) has adjusted temperature projections for several major Colombian cities. Expected highs have decreased in Valledupar, which is projected at 37 °C, Santa Marta at 33 °C, Montería at 33 °C, and Bogotá at 20 °C. While temperatures are trending lower in most areas, high humidity levels may still cause elevated thermal sensations in the Amazon and Orinoquía regions.
Regarding upcoming events in Bogotá, meteorological reports indicate variable conditions for the BTS concerts scheduled for October 2 and 3, 2026. Forecasts suggest intermittent afternoon rains with a 25% probability on Friday, while nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to 13 °C. Saturday may see an 80% probability of daytime precipitation.
Additionally, Ideam has issued fire alerts for 58 municipalities across the country. Cundinamarca and Boyacá each have three municipalities under red alert, while orange and yellow alerts are active in Cundinamarca, Huila, and Tolima.
