Identity agencies launch emergency registration for disaster victims
Government agencies in Peru and Colombia have launched special identification campaigns to assist citizens affected by recent natural disasters.
In Lima, Peru, Reniec is providing free delivery of National Identity Documents (DNI) across five districts impacted by heavy rains: Villa El Salvador, San Juan de Miraflores, San Juan de Lurigancho, Chorrillos, and Villa María del Triunfo. The initiative aims to bring registration services directly to families in these areas through coordinated efforts with local municipalities.
In Cali, Colombia, the Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil has implemented a priority response plan following an earthquake on August 10. Special registration sessions are scheduled from August 21 to September 15 to assist approximately 280 affected families in replacing lost identity documents. Service points have been established at the Coliseo de Hockey Miguel Calero and the Cuarto de Legua neighborhood.
