Iğdır livestock project distributes Angus cattle to breeders

The ‘Abundance in the Countryside, Support for Livestock’ project, coordinated by the General Directorate of Livestock under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, is actively distributing Angus breed pregnant livestock to producers. Centered at the Kazım Karabekir Agricultural Enterprise in Iğdır and facilities near Mount Ararat, the initiative aims to strengthen rural family businesses and meet breeding needs.

According to Yüksel Bora, Livestock Branch Manager at the Kazım Karabekir enterprise, the facility manages a population of approximately 12,000 cattle, including Limousin, Red Angus, Black Angus, Charolais, and Hereford breeds. The region’s pasture conditions support grazing from May to September across roughly 47,000 decares of land.

Official data indicates that 12,680 animals have been distributed to 840 breeders so far. The project, which saw significant demand following its recent implementation phases, is planned to continue until the end of 2028. The long-term goal is to reach 60,000 breeders by the project's conclusion.
