Iğdır University holds academic solidarity panel for Gaza

Iğdır University hosted a panel titled ‘Academic Solidarity and Universal Responsibility from Iğdır to Gaza’ to express support for Gaza amid ongoing Israeli attacks. The event, held at the Karaağaç Campus, included participation from Iğdır Governor Mustafa Fırat Taşolar, University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel, and Al-Quds Open University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim El-Şaer.

During the program, a video call was conducted with Enes Halid Hamid, a student at Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Medicine in Gaza. Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel condemned the destruction of schools, universities, and libraries in Palestine, stating that remaining silent in the face of such destruction is incompatible with academic education and universal human rights. He called on the international community to take concrete steps to stop the violence.
