IED attack kills one, injures nine on passenger trailer in Borno, Nigeria

On July 2, 2026, a passenger trailer traveling from Maiduguri to Damboa struck an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Komala village axis in Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State, Nigeria. The blast killed the driver, Isa Uba, and injured nine other passengers.

Security analysts linked the device to Boko Haram/ISWAP militants. A joint response team—including military personnel, police tactical units, EOD‑CBRN operatives, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters—was dispatched to secure the scene, evacuate the injured to hospitals, and render the area safe. The deceased was taken to a hospital for official confirmation before burial according to Islamic rites, and security forces continued combing operations in the vicinity to prevent further attacks.
