IETAM receives over 1,000 applications for municipal councils

The Electoral Institute of Tamaulipas (IETAM) reported that more than 1,000 people have applied to join district and municipal councils for the 2026–2027 electoral process, exceeding initial expectations.

Electoral counselor Mayra Gisela Lugo Rodríguez stated that the selection process is currently in the review stage. Applicants who have omissions or inconsistencies in their documentation have until August 20 to rectify their files through the institute's computer system.

IETAM plans to publish the finalized lists of qualified applicants, including those participating via affirmative action, no later than October 1. From October 5 to October 9, these lists will be available to political party representatives for review and potential observation.
