IGAC intervenes in cadastral management issues in Yopal and Chía

The Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) is addressing significant cadastral management issues in several Colombian municipalities. In Yopal, the IGAC has officially resumed cadastral services following the departure of the operator Catasig. Local authorities reported severe technical delays in urban updates and the abandonment of in-person services by the previous operator. Additionally, the Contraloría General de la República is investigating fiscal findings totaling 6,332 million pesos related to defective cadastral updates.

In Chía, a citizen report led by lawyer Mauricio Mustafá has highlighted deep failures in the cadastral and property tax systems. The report alleges that while many citizens faced disproportionate tax increases, a select group of landowners and political figures benefited from errors. Investigations are being sought to determine if there were fiscal, disciplinary, or criminal implications regarding the cadastral update contracts, particularly as evidence suggests local authorities may have been aware of these errors since late 2025.
