Sergipe governor and Iguá launch water supply upgrades in Agreste region

Governor Fábio Mitidieri of Sergipe handed over new water‑supply infrastructure in the municipalities of Malhador and Moita Bonita and approved the construction of a road linking the Agreste area to the state’s eastern region.

Iguá Sergipe inaugurated a 10‑km adutora between Moita Bonita and Itabaiana and built two 200 m³ reservoirs in Itabaiana. The adutora, costing about R$5.7 million, and the reservoirs, invested at roughly R$2.6 million, are expected to benefit more than 15 000 residents. In Malhador, a new water‑treatment plant and associated network, financed with over R$15 million, will serve around 10 000 inhabitants and nearby villages.

Together, the projects form part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen water security, reduce drought vulnerability and promote economic development across the Agreste of Sergipe.
