Iguape provides free mobile mammography services

A mobile mammography unit from the ‘Mulheres de Peito’ program is providing free exams in Iguape, São Paulo, through September 5. The initiative, part of a São Paulo State Government program, aims to increase access to breast cancer screening via the Unified Health System (SUS).

Located at the municipal Event Center, the unit serves women aged 35 and older. For women between 50 and 74, no medical referral is required, though identity documents and a SUS card must be presented. Women aged 35 to 49, and those over 74, must provide a medical referral issued by the SUS.

Services operate on a first-come, first-served basis with a daily limit of 50 tokens from Monday to Friday, and 25 tokens on Saturdays. The program maintains a minimum 12-month interval between mammographies unless a medical report justifies a more frequent schedule.
