IIT Madras opens GATE 2027 application process

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced that the online application process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will open by 7:00 PM on September 2, 2026. Registration is conducted through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

Candidates can apply without a late fee until September 27, 2026. An extended registration period with a late fee is available until October 5, 2026. For Indian nationals, registration through DigiLocker is mandatory, and applicants are advised to ensure their accounts are verified before starting.

The 2027 examination will include 30 test papers, featuring a newly introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) paper. The exams are scheduled to take place over several weekends in February 2027, specifically on February 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21. Results are expected to be released on March 19, 2027.
