GVVV dismisses coaching staff after violent incident in match

A violent incident during a Dutch second division football match between IJsselmeervogels and GVVV led to the immediate dismissal of both head coach Dennis van Beukering and assistant coach Jhon van Beukering.

During the halftime break in the player tunnel, IJsselmeervogels player Quiermo Dumay was assaulted. Dumay reported suffering seven broken and three displaced teeth as a result of the attack. While IJsselmeervogels officials identified Jhon van Beukering as the assailant, Van Beukering claimed he acted in self-defense after being attacked by a group of people.

Following the assault, IJsselmeervogels refused to continue the match, leading the referee to abandon the game. GVVV issued a statement expressing deep shock and distancing itself from all forms of physical violence. The club has launched an investigation and is cooperating with the police and the KNVB. IJsselmeervogels has also filed a formal police report regarding the incident.
