Ikatan Notaris Indonesia leadership dualism ends via Supreme Court ruling
The Indonesian Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung) has issued ruling Number 1470 K/Pdt/2026, effectively ending the leadership dualism within the Ikatan Notaris Indonesia (INI). The court granted the cassation appeal filed by Tri Firdaus Akbarsyah and Agung Iriantoro, affirming the validity of the results from the XXIV INI Congress held in Tangerang, Banten, on August 30-31, 2023.
The ruling establishes Tri Firdaus Akbarsyah as the legitimate Chairperson of INI. Furthermore, the court declared that the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) held in Bandung on October 29, 2023, holds no legally binding power. This decision also invalidates Deed Number 2 dated January 4, 2025, and the Ministry of Law Decision regarding the approval of changes to the INI association.
Following the decision, Tri Firdaus Akbarsyah called for all Indonesian notaries to unite under a single organizational umbrella. He emphasized that the ruling represents a victory for the rule of law and the organization's constitution rather than a victory for one specific group. He urged all members and stakeholders to respect the court's decision to maintain legal certainty and the dignity of the notary profession.
