IKEA and Xbox launch YXTABY gaming-inspired furniture collection
IKEA and Xbox have announced a strategic collaboration to launch the YXTABY collection, a line of nine furniture pieces designed to integrate gaming into the home environment without disrupting traditional aesthetics. The collection aims to move gaming away from dedicated, dark rooms filled with RGB lighting and into living spaces like kitchens and lounges.
Developed through a joint effort where one designer from each company worked on every item, the collection combines Xbox’s 25 years of gaming expertise with IKEA’s 80 years of home furnishing experience. Key features include ergonomic structures, hidden cable management, and specialized ventilation for consoles like the Xbox Series X. Some products even incorporate design elements inspired by the Xbox controller, such as a stool shaped like an analog joystick.
The collection emphasizes sustainability, with over 80% of products utilizing FSC-certified wood and recycled plastics. The range is intended to serve both active gamers and those living with them, ensuring furniture remains functional and visually cohesive even when not in use for gaming.
