IKEA and Xbox unveil YXSTABY gaming furniture collection

IKEA and Xbox have unveiled YXSTABY, a nine-piece furniture and accessory collection designed to integrate gaming into shared domestic spaces. Unveiled at Gamescom, the collaboration aims to move away from traditional, aggressive gaming aesthetics in favor of Scandinavian design that blends seamlessly into living rooms, bedrooms, or offices.

The collection features items inspired by iconic Xbox controller elements. Notable pieces include a thumbstick-shaped stool that tilts with the user, a mobile TV stand with integrated cable management, a controller box that doubles as a laptop stand, and a D-pad inspired cushion and stainless steel tray. Designers from both companies worked together to translate hardware forms into functional home goods.

The YXSTABY line is scheduled to begin appearing in IKEA stores and online starting October 1, with specific availability in the US and Sweden. The project marks a significant design effort to address the needs of gamers living in multi-use or smaller environments where equipment must be easily stored or hidden when not in use.
