Il Borro wins Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri for Petruna 2021

The Petruna Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2021 from the Il Borro estate has received the ‘Tre Bicchieri’ from Gambero Rosso, the highest honor awarded by the Guida Vini d’Italia 2027.

Produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes, the wine is vinified exclusively in Tuscan terracotta amphorae. The production process involves manual harvesting and fermentation in clay vessels with daily manual punching down, followed by 11 months of skin maceration. A total of 9,000 bottles were produced for this vintage.

Salvatore Ferragamo, Vice President of Il Borro, stated that the recognition reflects the estate’s commitment to using ancient techniques to express the essence of the relationship between wine, land, and time. The estate, which transitioned to organic farming in 2015, spans approximately 1,100 hectares in the Valdarno di Sopra region.
