Ilaro Chief Imam returns N25m to late actor Taiwo Hassan’s family

Following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, the Chief Imam of Ilaro, Sheikh Muhammad Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi, has returned N25 million to the actor’s family. The funds, which Hassan had entrusted to the cleric while ill, were intended for the renovation of his grandfather’s house in Ilaro.

Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun commended the Imam for his integrity, describing him as an exemplary Muslim. Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, visited the family in Ogun State to offer condolences, noting that Hassan would have been appointed as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture had he won the 2027 governorship election.

Hassan passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after a battle with stage-four cancer. He was a prominent figure in Yoruba-language cinema with a career spanning over four decades.
