Ilham Aliyev signs new land decrees and addresses mine clearance

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed several decrees and orders aimed at amending land, civil, and property-related legislation. These legal changes involve the Land Code, the Civil Code, and regulations regarding the privatization of the housing fund, state land cadastre, and real estate registration. The updates specifically clarify the roles of executive authorities, designating the Ministry of Economy as the successor to the State Service for Property Matters in certain capacities.

In a separate address to the 4th International Mine Action Conference, President Aliyev reported that more than 3,500 Azerbaijani citizens have been harmed by landmines. He emphasized that humanitarian demining is a fundamental requirement for the reconstruction of cities, infrastructure, and the safe return of families to their homes. Aliyev noted that without clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance, sustainable economic development and the safe operation of schools and hospitals remain impossible.
