Ilhéus Mayor seeks faster project approvals and advances drainage works

The Mayor of Ilhéus, Valderico Júnior, has called for greater administrative agility in analyzing construction projects to support the city's growing real estate sector. Speaking at an event for the Tons de Brisa condominium, the mayor noted that while the sector drives job creation and revenue, the municipal administration currently faces challenges in keeping pace with growth. Specifically, a shortage of staff in the environmental analysis department has led to longer processing times for new investments.

In a separate infrastructure effort, the Ilhéus City Hall is progressing with the construction of a stone drainage canal on Pitágoras Street in the Teotônio Vilela neighborhood. The project, managed by the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Civil Defense, is approximately 50% complete. The new canal is designed to improve rainwater management, prevent flooding and mud accumulation, and enhance urban mobility and sanitary conditions for over 200 local families.
