Çiğli Mayor's official vehicle targeted in armed attack

An armed attack was carried out against the official vehicle of Onur Emrah Yıldız, the Mayor of Çiğli, while it was parked in the municipal parking lot. A suspect, identified as K. S., opened fire from a motorcycle and was subsequently apprehended by security guards and police officers with the weapon used in the crime.

Following the incident, Erkan Akar, the founding district president of the Yeni Party in Çiğli, issued a statement criticizing the response of the Republican People's Party (CHP) leadership. Akar expressed his condolences to Mayor Yıldız but condemned the local CHP provincial and district administrations for allegedly attempting to downplay or ignore the attack. He noted that while members from various political parties, including AK Party and MHP, sent messages of support, the silence from certain CHP officials was unacceptable.
