Ilia Topuria appears injury‑free after UFC White House defeat

Spanish‑Georgian lightweight champion Ilia Topuria was defeated by Justin Gaethje at a UFC event held on the White House South Lawn on 14 June. The bout, staged to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary and Donald Trump’s birthday, resulted in Topuria suffering two orbital fractures, a broken nose and multiple bruises, and he was given a minimum 60‑day rest period with a provisional 180‑day medical suspension.

Following the fight Topuria concealed his injuries with thick sunglasses in every public appearance. In a recent Instagram post by his hairstylist Luis Bless, he appeared without sunglasses for the first time, indicating that his facial injuries have largely healed. Gaethje has said he is not interested in a rematch, and many MMA fans anticipate Topuria’s next opponent could be Paddy Pimblett.
