Ilia Topuria ready for UFC return following loss to Justin Gaethje

Former two-division UFC champion Ilia Topuria has recovered from injuries sustained during his first professional loss and is ready to return to competition. The loss occurred at UFC Freedom 250, where Topuria suffered a TKO via corner stoppage against Justin Gaethje, resulting in the loss of his lightweight title.

UFC President Dana White confirmed that the promotion is in contact with Topuria and is considering two potential matchups for his comeback: an immediate rematch with Gaethje or a fight against Paddy Pimblett. While White noted that both options are appealing, Topuria’s manager, Malki Kawa, has indicated that the team is focused exclusively on a rematch with Gaethje to seek revenge.

Not all fighters agree with an immediate rematch. Former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad has publicly stated that Topuria does not deserve a title rematch against Gaethje, suggesting instead that a fight with Pimblett would be more appropriate.
