Ilie Bolojan faces accusations amid Romanian government formation deadlock
PSD deputy Adrian Câciu said Ilie Bolojan is "lying to the President" and "mocking Romania," accusing the PNL leader of political misconduct. President Nicușor Dan warned that parties have returned to a political deadlock after the PNL reversed its earlier pledge to support a PSD‑led minority government.
Bolojan, who was named interim premier by Dan, replied that his party will not back any premier unconditionally and warned against handing the country over to anyone. AUR leader George Simion called for his party to join the government and urged Dan’s suspension if he does not comply.
Former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu intensified the criticism, labeling Bolojan as the "definition of anti‑Romanian," accusing him of selling national assets, harming the economy, and linking recent political events to historic abortion policies. Georgescu also blamed Dan for appointing Bolojan and questioned the legitimacy of recent elections.
