Ilie Bolojan faces PSD criticism amid Romanian government stalemate
Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is being accused of political opportunism and inconsistency as negotiations between the ruling coalition and the opposition remain deadlocked. Critics say his proposals resemble earlier PSD ideas and that he changes positions without clear justification.
PSD leader Ionuț Pucheanu stressed that the problem lies with Bolojan, not the PNL, urging a return to the negotiating table. He warned that without an agreement Romania could face an extended period with a demissioned government unable to function fully. Pucheanu likened the coalition to a marriage, saying “we would have liked to change the bride, not the marriage,” and criticized the speed of Bolojan’s reforms, comparing them to taking a full course of antibiotics at once.
Both speakers called for compromise and a political solution to restore effective governance.
