Ilie Bolojan summoned by DNA Iași in influence peddling probe

Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has been summoned to testify as a witness before anti-corruption prosecutors at DNA Iași. The investigation centers on businessman Fănel Bogos and allegations of high-level influence peddling. Prosecutors are examining whether Bogos used political connections to overturn veterinary sanctions and secure approximately 3 million euros in compensation claims following poultry infractions.

The probe involves scrutiny of a meeting between Bogos and Bolojan at Victoria Palace. Other individuals under investigation include Mihai Barbu, former president of PNL Vaslui, and Cristina Trăilă, former deputy secretary-general of the Government, regarding allegations of using political authority to obtain undue benefits.

The political party AUR issued a statement expressing concern over the timing of the summons. While acknowledging that Bolojan must answer for any evidence, AUR suggested the legal action might be a political attempt to pressure the leader following his calls for early elections.
