Ilijaš drug seizure: 1.1 tons of synthetic narcotics intercepted

In a major law enforcement operation codenamed ‘Bure’, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Indirect Taxation Authority, supported by the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs, seized approximately 1,095 kilograms of synthetic narcotics in the Ilijaš municipality. The substance has been identified as synthetic cathinone, a dangerous stimulant used as a substitute for cocaine and ecstasy.

The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at 5 million euros, though authorities note that the street value in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding region could reach between 25 and 33 million euros when broken down into individual doses.

During the operation, police also seized firearms, mobile phones, official seals, business documentation, and specialized full-face masks with advanced filtration systems used for chemical synthesis. One individual, identified by some reports as Kenan Ramić, was arrested during the operation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the smuggling network and the origin of the narcotics.
