Ilija Srdanović faces scrutiny ahead of Serbian elections

Ilija Srdanović, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad and the lead candidate for the ‘Studentska lista’ (Student List), is facing various controversies ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25.

Srdanović recently declined a televised debate invitation from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, responding via social media with messages such as ‘Ignor is very painful.’ This refusal has drawn criticism regarding his potential diplomatic readiness. Additionally, claims surfaced regarding a temporary disappearance of his Instagram account, which Srdanović characterized as a political move, though the account was restored within hours.

Further allegations have been raised by Nebojša Obrknežev, who claims Srdanović was previously removed from a polling station in Sečanj while serving as an observer. Srdanović’s background and political positioning are also being scrutinized, with debates surrounding his ties to various local figures and his role in student protests.
