Ilir Meta requests PM Rama and ex‑speaker Ruçi as witnesses in Kosovo mining‑law trial

Ilir Meta, former president of the Liberal Party and ex‑president of Kosovo, has asked the court to summon Prime Minister Edi Rama and former parliamentary speaker Gramoz Ruçi as witnesses in his ongoing criminal case before the Basic Court of Kosovo. Meta argues that their testimony is essential to clarify the circumstances surrounding the adoption of the mining law and related decision‑making processes, and he also proposes other witnesses such as former parliament chairman Gramoz Ruçi and PS deputy Taulant Balla.

Meta contends that expert insight is needed to assess how many entities benefited from the legislative change and rejects accusations that his personal property issues relate to the case. The court will decide whether the requested witnesses will be called to give statements.
