İlke Özyüksel Mihrioğlu wins historic modern pentathlon European title
İlke Özyüksel Mihrioğlu has become the first athlete in Turkish sports history to win a European Championship in modern pentathlon. In a recent interview, the athlete reflected on her 21-year career and the mental resilience required to achieve this milestone.
Mihrioğlu noted that despite facing difficulties during the fencing portion of the competition, she maintained her focus and refused to give up. She highlighted the importance of mental development, stating that her ability to maintain a positive internal dialogue was a key factor in her success.
Having already participated in three Olympic Games, Mihrioğlu is now preparing for the Senior World Championships in China this August, with long-term goals including the 2027 European Games in Istanbul and the Los Angeles Olympics.
