Illegal diesel shipment seized in Volos port
Inspectors from Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) halted a cargo vessel docked in the port of Volos after discovering 12,280 litres of undeclared marine diesel. The ship, sailing under the flag of Saint Christopher and Nevis, had reported only metal cylinders as cargo. The excess fuel, valued at about €8,856, was confiscated and the vessel was ordered not to sail pending further investigation into the smuggling network.
The operation, part of targeted maritime checks, resulted in the seizure of the illegal diesel and the imposition of customs and tax charges. Authorities continue to pursue other members of the illicit circuit.
