Ilsky oil refinery targeted by Ukrainian drone strike
A Ukrainian drone attack targeted the Ilsky oil refinery in the Seversky area of Russia's Krasnodar region, causing overnight fires and casualties. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratiev confirmed that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike resulted in at least one person being seriously injured and reported fatalities. Debris from the drones also damaged residential buildings and ignited fires at two local enterprises.
The Ilsky refinery is a major processing facility in southern Russia, capable of producing approximately 6.6 million tons of fuel annually, and is located about 500 km from Ukrainian-controlled territory. While independent news agency ASTRA reported fires at the refinery based on eyewitness footage, the Kyiv Independent has not yet independently verified the exact extent of the damage to the facility.
This incident follows reports from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding strikes on other Russian refineries in Bashkortostan and the Samara region. Concurrently, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported using Geran drones to target dry cargo ships and the port of Odesa in the Black Sea, alleging the vessels were transporting military supplies for Ukrainian forces.
