Imagination Library announces ‘Give Like Dolly Day’ to support literacy

The Dollywood Foundation and the Wood County District Public Library have announced ‘Give Like Dolly Day’ for Friday, Sept. 25. This global initiative aims to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and honor her commitment to childhood literacy.

Founded by Parton in 1995 in honor of her father, the Imagination Library has grown into the world’s largest early childhood book-gifting program. It operates in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, providing free, age-appropriate books to eligible children from birth through age five. The program mails books directly to families to encourage early literacy and a love of reading, without using family income as a requirement for participation.

Local partners, described by Parton as the ‘true heroes’ of the program, manage the distribution and fundraising efforts within their communities. ‘Give Like Dolly Day’ encourages individuals to support these local partners and other nonprofits dedicated to helping children.
