IMD issues heavy rain alerts for Chhindwara and Delhi-NCR as monsoon intensifies

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy‑rain alert for Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, noting that three strong weather systems are active over the region. The department warned of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds and the risk of flash flooding, urging residents to stay away from water‑logged areas and open spaces, and to follow official updates.

A separate alert was released for Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. IMD cautioned that heavy to very heavy rain could cause water‑logging, disrupt traffic and affect flight and train schedules. Local authorities have instructed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, keep an eye on drainage conditions and adhere to safety guidelines.
