IMF approves $690 million disbursement for Ukraine under $8.1 billion program

The International Monetary Fund reached a staff‑level agreement with Ukrainian authorities on the first review of the country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF). The deal would make roughly $690 million available, pending approval by the IMF Executive Board, bringing total IMF payments to Ukraine to about $2.2 billion under the $8.1 billion, four‑year programme.

The IMF said Ukraine has met all quantitative performance criteria and most structural targets for the first quarter, though one target remains unmet. The parties also agreed on an updated reform timetable and additional policy commitments to address shortfalls. While the war continues to weigh heavily on Ukraine’s population and economy, the programme remains fully financed thanks to ongoing large‑scale external support.
