IMF to conduct sixth economic program review in Honduras

The Honduran Ministry of Finance has announced that an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation will visit the country to conduct the sixth review of its current economic program. Nigel Chalk, Director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department, will lead the technical mission.

The review, expected to take place between late October and early November, will evaluate public finances, revenue and expenditure trends, debt sustainability, international reserves, and monetary and exchange rate policies. It will also assess progress on structural reforms in strategic sectors, including recent energy sector reforms.

Finance Minister Emilio Hernández Hércules stated that the government aims to successfully complete this stage to access remaining resources under the current agreement. Additionally, the administration intends to begin discussions with the IMF to establish a new economic cooperation framework for the coming years, focusing on economic growth and fiscal responsibility legislation.
