Immersive art installations open in Palermo and Turin
Two distinct immersive art installations are being presented in Italy. In Palermo, the Museo Riso presents ‘12. Un Tempo Sacro’ by Micaela Cometa Xerra at the Cappella dell’Incoronata. Running until September 11, 2026, the site-specific installation serves as a tribute to Santa Rosalia, drawing inspiration from her twelve years of spiritual isolation in the Monte Pellegrino cave. The work utilizes abstract pieces to explore themes of ritual, devotion, and internal transformation.
In Turin, the Museo d’Arte Urbana (MAU) is hosting ‘Fuori dai bordi’ from June 13 to 19, 2026. Created by Camilla Pasca and Lucia Baretta, this project uses immersive art to explore neurodivergence. Through a multisensory chamber featuring video projections, layered sounds, and environmental stimuli, the installation aims to foster empathy by simulating sensory overload and different ways of perceiving the world.
