Imola hosts international AI-driven autonomous racing event

The Imola Circuit is hosting an international race for the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, featuring AI-driven single-seater cars. These vehicles, based on the Dallara Super Formula SF23 platform, utilize cameras, radar, and lidar to navigate and make driving decisions at speeds exceeding 250 km/h.

This event marks the league's expansion from the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi to Europe, testing autonomous algorithms on a highly technical track. The technology aims to eventually translate these advancements into real-world mobility applications.

During the competition, autonomous cars from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) and the Politecnico di Milano competed for victory, though a collision ultimately knocked them out of the race.
