Imola to host European debut of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League

The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola will host the European debut of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) on September 5. Organized by ASPIRE, the technology division of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council, the competition is moving to Italy after two seasons in the United Arab Emirates.

The event features up to five single-seater racing cars based on the Dallara Super Formula SF23 technical platform. While the hardware is identical, the competition focuses on the software and algorithms that allow the vehicles to interpret their environment and make split-second decisions without a human driver. Participating teams include TUM from Germany, PoliMOVE and Unimore Racing from Italy, Kinetiz from the UAE, and Construct from Germany.
