Imperia bans swimming at two beach locations due to water contamination

Mayor Claudio Scajola has issued two ordinances in Imperia temporarily banning swimming at the Parco Urbano beach and the Spianata area, which includes the Sogni d’Estate and Koko Beach zones.

The bans follow Arpal inspections that detected intestinal enterococci levels exceeding legal limits in samples taken on August 19, 2026. This marks the second such suspension for the Sogni d’Estate area this summer, despite its previous classification as ‘excellent’ between 2022 and 2025.

The restrictions remain in effect until new analyses confirm that water parameters have returned to legal standards. Local authorities have notified the relevant beach concessionaires, and violators of the ban face administrative sanctions.
