Imperial Brands to cut thousands of jobs in US and Europe

Imperial Brands is preparing two major waves of layoffs affecting thousands of jobs across the United States and European markets. This restructuring is part of a five-year strategy aimed at saving more than 300 million euros in annual costs by 2030 to create a leaner and more agile organization.

The first phase of cuts will impact human resources, finance, procurement, and supply chain personnel within ITG Brands, the company’s American branch operating in the US, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Some ITG Brands positions are expected to be transitioned to the outsourcing partner Capgemini SE. Subsequent cuts are expected to affect legal, intelligence, and marketing teams.

In Europe, the company has previously announced the planned closure of a tobacco plant in Langenhagen, Germany, by July 2027, a move expected to affect approximately 600 employees.
