Imperial Brands corporate restructuring and layoffs
Overview
Imperial Brands has announced a restructuring plan involving thousands of job cuts across the United States and Europe. This initiative is part of a five-year strategy intended to save more than 300 million euros in annual costs by 2030 to establish a “leaner and more agile organization.”
The layoffs will occur in phases. The first phase targets human resources, finance, procurement, and supply chain staff within ITG Brands, which operates in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Some of these roles are expected to be outsourced to Capgemini SE. Subsequent phases are expected to impact legal, marketing, and intelligence teams.
In Europe, the company has also announced the planned closure of a tobacco plant in Langenhagen, Germany, by July 2027, which is expected to affect approximately 600 employees.
