Imran Khan medical report details withheld by PIMS hospital

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has announced that it will not disclose the confidential details of a medical report for jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, citing patient privacy and directives from the Supreme Court.

During a medical examination conducted between August 20 and 21, two specialists from Shifa International Hospital assisted in an ophthalmological assessment. A medical board at PIMS subsequently finalized a fitness report based on these findings and other investigations. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that Khan was declared medically fit following the examination.

The medical transfer has sparked controversy. While the Supreme Court had previously ordered Khan to be moved to Shifa International Hospital for treatment, he was instead taken to PIMS. Government officials attributed this change to security concerns involving PTI workers along the planned route. In response, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party accused the government of violating court orders and indicated plans to file a contempt petition.
