Imran Khan hospital transfer dispute sparks contempt petitions in Pakistan
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's legal and political situation has escalated following a dispute over his medical care. Additionally, Khan's legal team has approached the United Nations and international human rights bodies, seeking urgent intervention regarding his health and treatment in custody.
The federal government has defended its actions, citing security concerns near Shifa International Hospital as the reason for the change in venue. Officials stated that Khan underwent a medical examination at PIMS and was declared medically fit before being returned to Adiala Jail. The government has also filed a fresh review petition challenging the Supreme Court's original order, arguing that prison regulations and legal frameworks were not fully considered.
