Imre Komjáthi re-elected as MSZP president
Imre Komjáthi has been re-elected as the president of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP). In a historic first for the organization, the election was conducted entirely online.
The voting period took place between September 28 and October 2, 2026. Approximately 70 percent of pre-registered members participated in the process. Komjáthi secured 318 votes (73.3 percent), defeating challenger Gábor Lovasi, who received 116 votes (26.7 percent).
Komjáthi is set to serve as president for the 2026-2028 term. The party's full national leadership for the upcoming two-year period will be officially elected during the Renewal Congress scheduled for October 17, 2026.
